Driver's Seat with Alex Sczudlo

Driver's Seat with Alex Sczudlo
@joeadrift

A Friday release? Two newsletters in one week? Can it be real? Yes! Tell your family and grab your neighbor, as we would like to introduce you to our first Special Edition: Driver’s Seat! Our team’s goal is to provide the best insight to the car community (both local and abroad). The “car community” we speak of would be nothing without all of the die-hard enthusiasts that indulge in the scene on a weekly basis. Take a look at the first of many gear heads that took us for a drive- Alex Sczudlo.

Interview:

Q - What would you list as your all-time favorite car(s)?

A - "LP5000 QV Countach, LM002, Aston Martin Victor, DeTomaso p72 (if it ever gets produced with the v12), Apollo IE, P1, SVJ, yellow Zonda Cinque"

Q - What was your first “dream car?” When did that change?

A - "Aventador was my first dream car. Then I saw a Countach at a cars and coffee and fell in love with it - that’s been my dream car ever since."

Q - What was the strongest factor in your interest at a young age?

A - "My family traveled by car about all over the Western united states. On long road trips I would entertain myself by trying to name all the cars we passed and got so excited one time when I saw a Murcielago rip past us."

Q - Starting as a hobby and now having loads of experience with the business-side of the photography world - what would you consider your favorite experience(s) so far?

A - "My favorite experiences often come from friendships made along the way - leading to lifelong memories. Some of my favorites have been going for a ride in a yellow P1 flanked by four other P1s. Another favorite was experiencing the Apollo IE golden dragon during their US debut. Shooting roller shots out of a Ford GT of the, at the time, new Huracan Evo spider for Forbes was another favorite. Getting to drive a Murcielago was another phenomenal experience. I also got a private tour of a collection in CA and was able to sit in the one-off Bugatti Vision GT."

Interview (Continued):

Q - What are your favorite aspects of the AZ car community?

A - "I love the friendships and the community. It gives me a sense of belonging. Many of my closest friends have come from the Arizona car scene."

Q - What are your favorite memories from attending events in the car community?

A - "One of my favorite memories has to be when a few friends and I were invited to essentially be the press for Apollo IE during their US debut in Scottsdale. We were allowed access to the car and I even remember they had us helping them tape and untape areas as it didn’t yet have PPF. It was a crazy experience being trusted to tape up what was at the time a one-off hypercar."

Q - What is your favorite photoshoot you have conducted and why?

A - "My favorite photoshoot has to be a yellow Pagani Huayra Roadster. I became friends with the owner by chance at a mutual friends wedding. It was a memorable moment when the, at the time, stranger sitting next to me at the table looked down and said “is that me on your Lock Screen?” I had seen the car once at a public show in California and had taken a photo of it that was on my Lock Screen. It was the beginning of a friendship that lead to a private shoot a few years later of the car."

Q - You recently have had your first experience with a press car from Chevrolet - what are your first thoughts and overall experience to this point?

A - "I’m so incredibly honored and amazed by the opportunity. My first thoughts were actually that I was fairly impressed by the car. Having only ridden passenger in a Corvette c8 before my expectations going in were very low. I soon realized the car is so driver oriented that the experience from the driver’s seat is so incredibly different."

Q - Why Yellow?

A - "I have a twin sister and when I was a child my dad struggled to tell us apart so he color coded us. Almost everything I had was yellow and my sister was purple. I grew up loving the color and still do to this day."
